About This Website

This website provides access to Food Security related information and resources produced by the EC-FAO Food Security Information for Action Programme. Its overall purpose is to enhance national capacity to use food security information from different sectors and sources for more effective anti-hunger policies and programmes.

The Programme is funded by the European Commission (EC) and implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). It is coordinated by FAO's Agricultural Development Economics Division.

What is Food Security?
Food security exists when all people, at all times, have access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life.
