Summary

This training course aims at enhancing the capacity of the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) in:

- analyzing food security and food consumption data collected from the 2005/06 Kenya Integrated Household Budget Survey (KIHBS); and

- estimating food security statistics at national and sub-national levels.

Target Audience

Statisticians from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) and representatives from line ministries involved in food security issues

Objectives

1.Improve national institutions' analytical capacity in assessing and monitoring food insecurity and poverty.

2. Produce reliable statistics on food insecurity and poverty at the national and sub-national levels.

These statistics are used for measuring progress towards targets established under the country policy reference frameworks and other international initiatives such as the World Food Summit (WFS) and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
